The popular cryptocurrency exchange Bittrex emailed customers today informing them of 82 coins soon to be delisted from the platform. Wallets holders of affected coins must have them withdrawn before Friday, March 30, 2018. After this time, your coins will be unrecoverable.
This is a good time to remind people that even though it is inconvenient to download many different wallets to hold your various altcoins, permanent delistings with a two week notice like this one for Bittrex are one of the main reasons beyond security to hold on to your private keys. The exchange is a convenient place to hold on to many different coins, but it is not the safest.
The list of coins/wallets to be removed can be viewed below or on the official Bittrex support page here.
The email provided the following guide for those who need to withdraw coins off the Bittrex exchange:
“To withdraw your coins, please login to https://www.bittrex.com and click Wallets.
Next, you will need to search for the impacted coin and click the minus () button to open the withdrawal dialog. Then, you will be able to withdraw your balance. If you have any issues withdrawing before March 30, 2018 deadline, immediately file a support ticket at: https://support.bittrex.com
Please note for the coins without functional blockchains or wallets, it is not possible to transfer or withdraw those coins. In those cases, the inability to withdraw your balance is not due to the Bittrex Exchange platform, but is a problem with the underlying blockchain or wallet associated with that coin.”
